The Coin Method

Pros:

  • free

  • minimal processing time, just send an email!

  • can be used for multiple lengths and shapes of press on nails*

Cons:

  • higher risk for incorrect sizing**

Explore Shape & Size Kit (Non-Wearable)

Pros:

  • affordable

  • expansive length/shape options (see product for more details)

  • minimal risk of incorrect sizing**

Cons:

  • non-wearable

  • increased processing time

Wearable Size Kit

Pros:

  • wearable with many colour/finish options!

  • low risk of incorrect sizing**

Cons:

  • higher price due to the volume of nails within the kit (over 30!)

  • increased processing time

  • a full kit must be purchased for each length/shape desired*

  • Unfortunately, press on nail sizes are not directly interchangeable between brands, or even between lengths and shapes within one brand. For example: a size 2 in medium almond will not be the same measurements as the size 2 in extra long coffin. Similarly, a size 8 in short round may not be a size 8 in long round.

    The purchase of a Wearable Size Kit only includes one length/shape. To find sizing in multiple lengths/shapes, a size kit for each variation must be purchased.

    The Explore Shapes and Size Kit is a way to affordably and easily discover your perfect fit in multiple shapes/lengths. The purchase of one Explore Kit includes an unlimited selection of shape/length combos.

    The Coin Method is not affected by this differences.

  • Your nails have a natural curvature (c-curve), so while the coin method is generally reliable, it is unable to translate the true curve and 3D qualities of your nail. This increases the risk that the set you receive may not fit exactly right.

    The Explore Shape and Size Kit comes with one unpainted nail in each available size of your chosen length(s)/shape(s). This is more reliable, however an unpainted press on nail is more flexible than a painted one, which could lead to slight size discrepancies in the finished product as well.

    The Wearable Size Kit option is the most reliable method, with the bonus of having wearable nails while you wait for your other set to be delivered. Painted press on nails are more rigid, and therefore are more true to sizing for the final product.

For Uglie Nails, I use the SOFGEL (XII) brand of full coverage tips. If you have experience with that same brand and know your sizing, feel free to simply fill out your sizes while ordering your set and bypass the coin & kit methods!

The Coin Method

If you are familiar with the coin method, complete the contact form and I will email your sizes in 1-2 days.

If you are unfamiliar with The Coin Method, follow the instructions as follows for both hands:

  1. find a blank, flat surface

  2. have a bright light source that reduces harsh shadows

  3. place a loonie or toonie on the surface and rest your hand palm-down close beside it

    • hand & fingers relaxed; do not press fingertips into the surface

    • fingers slightly spread apart

  4. take a photo of the coin & your hand from directly above

  5. repeat steps 1-4 for your thumb only (make sure the pad of your thumb is flat on the surface so the thumbnail is in unobstructed view)

  6. fill out the contact form and attach all 4 photos

Explore Shape & Size Kit Non-Wearable

In this kit you will receive:

  • the full size range of unpainted full coverage tips for the length(s) & shape(s) you request

  • blank size card(s)

The proper fit will reach both lateral nail folds (skin surrounding the nail plate) without overlapping onto the live tissue. If it overlaps your skin, its too big.

The press on should not squeeze your natural nail or be ‘pushed' on to fit. If it squeezes, its too small.

  1. go through each size and place them on your bare natural nail following the guide above

    • size all fingers on both hands; bodies are not always symmetrical

  2. fill out the size card to refer to when ordering your next set

Wearable Size Kit

In this kit you will receive:

  • 30+ painted press on full coverage tips (enough for a full wearable set, including multiples in the case of requiring repeated sizes)

  • blank size card

  • full application kit

  • application instruction card

The proper fit will reach both lateral nail folds (skin surrounding the nail plate) without overlapping onto the live tissue. If it overlaps your skin, its too big.

The press on should not squeeze your natural nail or be ‘pushed' on to fit. if it squeezes, its too small.
